Built from lived experience
Each of these leaders knows gambling harm firsthand, and each one built the community they needed and could not find. GamFin brings the financial counseling. Together, we help people and families find a path forward.
Restoring Hope is our way of introducing them. In each video, a partner shares who they serve, what brought them to this work, and what restoring hope looks like for their community.
Women helping women
The Broke Girl Society
Christina Cook, IGRS, Founder and Host
The Broke Girl Society is a peer-led community and podcast for women affected by gambling harm. Christina Cook created it after more than 15 years caught in the cycle of gambling, when she saw how little visibility and support existed for women in recovery. Today it gives women a place to feel seen, heard, and supported without shame.
Together with GamFin
GamFin and The Broke Girl Society are partnering on a women-only financial counseling group session, giving women a safe space to work through the financial side of recovery together.
“It’s my hope that we can erase the stigma and shame so women will feel safe seeking the help they need without fear of judgment.”
For collectors, by collectors
Collectors MD
Alyx Effron, Founder
Collectors MD is a support-based movement and community for people navigating the emotional, financial, and psychological impact of compulsive collecting and spending. It offers weekly peer support meetings, education, and practical tools that help people set healthier boundaries and reconnect with why they collect.
Together with GamFin
GamFin supports Beyond the Chase, a Collectors MD video series offering nonjudgmental conversations about recovery, managing urges, and rebuilding relationships. Together, we are connecting behavioral recovery with financial recovery.
“We’re not anti-hobby. We’re pro-support.”
Parents helping parents
